Alpha Lipoic Acid

Information Form.

Alpha Lipoic Acid, or ALA as it is sometimes referred to, was discovered in the late 1980s. The benefits of alpha lipoic acid, initially described as a vitamin, have been the center of many studies in recent years. Alpha Lipoic Acid is a vitamin-like substance with both water and fat soluble ability and antioxidant properties.

This vitamin-like compound with surprising antioxidant properties has proven to be much more powerful than other antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E.

Foods Containing Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha lipoic acid information tells us that this antioxidant can be found in organ meats such as red meat, kidney and liver, and food sources such as brewer's yeast, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes and peas, and scientists have discovered that our bodies also produce it in small amounts. However, alpha lipoic acid products in supplement form have been suggested for the treatment of specific diseases.
